I was reading a bit about how shells used to be seen as symbols of protection and even fertility in some cultures. Kind of cool how now they’re just fashion statements. I have this old pendant my grandma gave me, and she said it was meant to bring good luck. Does anyone here actually wear shell jewelry for its meaning, or is it mostly just for style these days?

That’s so cool your grandma passed that down to you. I think some folks still believe in the meaning behind them. I have a little collection of cowrie shell jewelry, and I love how they were once used as currency in different parts of the world. For me, it’s partly about the history and partly because they look great layered with plain metal chains. It just feels a bit more special knowing the background.

Last summer I noticed so many people wearing shell anklets and earrings at festivals. It seems like every year there’s a wave of trends coming back around, but some styles never fully disappear. Even the simplest designs can really stand out, especially with a tan and a casual outfit.
