I used to believe that the best images only come from expensive cameras. But a rainy afternoon shook my beliefs. My friend Sarah who takes all her photos via her smartphone and showed me the VSCO Edits on film of a hazy bus stop. The muted greens and soft grain transformed ordinary puddles into something beautiful.

“That’s the magic,” she declared, switching between the original and the edit. “VSCO doesn’t create the moment–it helps you honor what you already saw.”

Now I am noticing things differently. The way light from late evening stains the bricks (A6 filter). The way shadows gather beneath the stalls in markets (HB2). My digital camera is filled with candid, live moments that are eagerly awaiting their VSCO film translation.

The best equipment was never within my reach. It was a matter of developing my trust in my eyes and let VSCO assist me in describing the things I felt.
